The unsug guys in all of this are the cameramen. The are on set the whole entire film. It really is a great skill and they don\’t get much credit If you aren\’t the controlling type on the set, maybe this is the job for you in the industry.
The real dough is in producing. You get to be part of the creative team AND have controll over the project. You don\’t have to be on set all day and once you show you can manage everthing you are giving the key to shop much more often.
I don\’t know about being an agent. Tehy seem kind of ….. won\’t say it. Im sure man are good people but it a great big business based on BS and what can you do for me now.
What about screen writing, another great way to get in to the biz. If you are clever, maybe you can work for a sitcom. If you have ascript andd don\’t hink you cna make it yourself, start trying to shop it around.
Most colleges have soe kind of film program so don\’t worry about doing undergrad at the big ones. Go to a small one, be the star, and then go to grad school at on of the big ones.
Yeah, if you can go to NYU or AFI or something like that, you will definetly be playing with the big boys. But don\’t discount other schools. Some of the best film come from all over. Just because you don\’t get in there does not mean you don\’t have what it takes.
Going to film school will not only help you become a diretor but it will teach you all the fasets of film making. You may go and end up wanting to be a lighting tech or sound guy instead.
