I do not know much about tropical fish, but once, in my teenage years, I saw what the owner claimed to be a "Peppermint Shrimp".  Awesome – looked like a regular shrimp, only red and white striped.  The most awesome fish I have ever seen, then and since then.  This incident occurred in the 70's in Minnesota, and the only reason this stands out is because:  I remember he said he had trouble with cloudy fish tank water.
