Telogen Effluvium
Posted by Don,
The type of hair loss caused by stress factors is referred to as telogen effluvium, which is very different from androgenetic alopecia. Telogen effluvium is the reversible shedding of hair in the resting phase when the body feels or senses, for rather unclear reasons, that it needs to challenge its energies elsewhere. It is therefore the case that stress temporarily changes the amount of hair which is shed, but the hair is likely to grow back. Stress has many side effects, and the loss of a person’s hair can only lead to a more stressful feeling, and thus the circle continues until such times as the person has recovered from whatever was the cause and gets their life back on track
