I like that styrofoam insulation products feature a closed cell structure that helps maintain their R-value over time. The extruded polystyrene insulation products offer the highest moisture resistance of any foam plastic insulation I have seen.

Polyisocyanurate insulation is available as a liquid, aerosol sprayed foam, and as a rigid foam board. It can also be made into laminated insulation panels with a variety of facings. I have found that the foamed in place applications of polyisocyanurate insulation arecheaper than installing foam boards.

I see that foam board insulation is commonly placed between the exterior finish and the studs of exterior walls. To prevent infiltration of the air, you should place rigid insulation boards tightly together and seal the seams with tape or caulk.

I know that different parts of a building can be insulated using rigid foam board insulation. The best foam board application in curtain walls, roofs, foundations, entry and overhead garage doors, pipes and tanks; apart from being used between studs on interior and concrete walls.

My research has found that rigid foam insulation is very effective in applications with space limitations and where higher R-values are needed. The foam board insulation R-values range from R-4 to R-6.5 per inch of thickness, which is can be up to two times greater than many other insulating materials of the same thickness.

I like the fact the foam board insulation can be placed between the exterior finish or the studs of the exterior walls. This gives the contractor lots of flexibility when it comes to building a house.

I like the fact that rigid foam insulation has such a high R-value. With such a high R-value, I have the peace of mind that I will be saving on my heating and cooling costs for months to come.
