Going once, going twice, FURNITURE SOLD!

I had a blast this weekend. A friend of mine is in our local Rotary Club and she told me they were having a furniture auction this weekend. I’d never been to an auction but I’d seen them in the movies and on TV! Well, apparently the auctioneer (is that what you call them?) had seen the same movies because he was a hoot! Imagine this fast talker rattling off “Do I hear 5 5 5 5 hundred to the lady in the blue 550 550 coming round 550 the man in the yellow jacket 575 575 do I hear 575?” I had fun waving my little placard around but that darned lady in blue kept outbidding me for that bedroom vanity… I think it was Victorian. Oh well, no matter, I’d definitely do that again if I had the chance.

I asked my friend how their club got the furniture in the first place and apparently it was from a hotel that had updated its decor and sold their old furniture to them in bulk for a very reduced price in order to help the community. I thought that was great, so I started looking around to see if there were any other listings of auctions for used hotel furniture coming up. That site tipped me off to a few good places but it looks like they’re semi-rare finds. I’m going to keep looking though, and I found out that there are a bunch of other categories of ways to buy used hotel furniture online or in person so I might just go and pick up a bedroom vanity for cheap anyway!
