Vinyl flooring tiles are well-liked because of the fact that they tend to be extremely adaptable when used for flooring and provides the client a number of colours, styles and patterns.  Furthermore, vinyl flooring tiles may either be glued down or be stuck to the floor using self adhesive which is merely a peel off and adhere method.   This makes installing the vinyl flooring tiles super easy for the Do-it-yourself person or novice as well as the specialists.  Nevertheless, self adhesive floor tiles can be problematic as following a period of time they can lose there sticking properties and be kicked up particularly within active regions of the property.  Self Adhesive vinyl tiles put down within a domestic area like a home is usual not a problem as the vinyl tiles may have little deterioration and ought to last 15 years which is the most common period of the warranty.  Nonetheless in an open public area such as a school it can be much more practical to have glued down vinyl flooring tiles.

I find vinyl floor tiles very tough wearing and easy to wipe clean so I use for all my kitchen and storage areas.  As these spaces are awkward for laying vinyl flooring, vinyl tiles is definitately the way to go for a hassle free flooring experience.  Use self adhesive as well to make it more easy! When calculating the number of floor tiles the boxes of tiles should state the area the contents will cover which makes calculating easy so I would not get too worried whether you have enough floor tiles.  Buy some extra tiles if you think you will not have enough!  paulo

When cutting the vinyl floor tiles I tend to make a bit of a mess as the knife never seems to cut through all the way.  I have now worked out that several small cuts along the edge of the vinyl tile is better than trying to do one long cut..cheers

I prefer stripe patterns on the vinyl flooring tiles for my bathroom and kitchen and generally use the widest stripe possible as my kichen diner and bathroom are rather large and a narrow stripe looks out of place.

I like the chequered or chess pattern especially for my dinning room come kitchen as its looks a very clean, professional and beautiful finish.  With the vinyl underlay underneath vinyl tile flooring is definately a good option to consider when on a budget..

I agree, vinyl floor tiles gives me a lot more variety and patterns to choose from.  However, it takes me quite a bit of time to work out the patterns and the number of tiles I need for each colour.  Its is worth the extra effort though!

I have used vinyl sheeting before but with floor tiles I have to work out the total area of floor to be covered with flooring tiles as I need to know how many boxes I require to lay one room. I presume I will have to calculate the area of floor each box will cover and then divide into the area of the room? A post on this would be great!

You said that vinyl flooring tiles are easier to handle than sheet vinyl and I presume thats because they get round awkward shapes better and are more forgiving if you make a mistake.  However you failed to point out that they take a lot longer to lay than sheet vinyl!
