The Diifference Between a Physician’s Certification and Their Licensure

Generally people need to remember that a physician cannot be solely measured on how well he or she is keeping up to date in any specialty, but how the professional is able to use updated knowledge effectively in everyday practice. Usually certification is not considered similar to obtaining a licensure. There are physicians who want to keep practicing medicine on a legal basis need to be licensed from the territory or state in which they want to practice. But getting a licensure cannot be considered specialty specific; it sets the minimum requirements of competence for diagnosing and treating the patients, while certification is an indication of the expertise of a physician in a specialty or medical practice.
